Hi. I want to set up a buy 1 get 1 free deal but there’s a problem. The customer must add 2 products to get the offer. Is there a way to make it so that when the customer adds 1 product to their cart, another product will automatically be added to their cart for free? Any help would be much appreciated!

Sounds like what you’ll actually need is a “gift with purchase”/“free gift”/“auto add to cart” type of app.
“Try to find an app” is an accepted solution?!?! How is this even a solution?

Agreed. If we want to make these forums useful resources, we all need to be a little more discerning of what we mark as “solutions” and what we upvote. Shopify has used this community as “free marketing” for long enough. The accepted response was not a “solution” it was only an acknowledgement of Shopify’s limitations and shortcomings as a platform. The OP does not have a “solution” that they can put in place to solve the problem any more than they did when they came here.
Assuming the OP was trying to find a way to accomplish this, telling them to “find an app” isn’t really a high-quality response worthy of being marked as a solution, is it? Imagine you were looking for a tool in your garage and you asked someone where it was, them telling you to “look in the garage” isn’t really all that useful, is it?
It would have been more useful to state that what the OP wants to do is not possible with OTB Shopify and an app (or custom coding) must be used to accomplish this rather basic feature and then make a few recommendations about which app might work. Going further, rather than just listing the results of a quick app store search, the respondent could explain what the advantages and shortcomings of each app are and which one they recommend (and why). That would have been a response more worthy of being marked a “solution”.

It’s not that deep. I used the “EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift” app from the Shopify app store. I’m pretty sure it comes with a free trial if you’re worried about spending money before seeing if it works for you.
That’s not it at all. If this “forum” is going to be a resource for people to get help with Shopify, it should offer actual help. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time. Other people are showing up here with the same questions you had and would appreciate better information if this thread is going to be marked “solved”.
