How to bill customers for extra shipping costs after splitting a fulfillment?

After splitting a fulfillment, the two shipment costs are greater than what the customer paid. How can I notify and bill the customer for the additional shipping cost?

To the best of my knowledge, there isn’t a pre-built solution for this in Shopify.

One approach is to create a draft order for the remaining payment, while another option is to explore an app for order editing.
