I’d like to switch the default one-click purchase button on Shopify from Google Pay to Apple Pay. How can I make this change? Store theme name is optimal. Site link: https://techshieldny.com
Topic summary
A user wants to change the default one-click purchase button from Google Pay to Apple Pay on their Shopify store (using the Optima theme).
Key clarification from support:
- The payment button displayed is not manually selectable by the store owner
- The system automatically shows payment options based on the customer’s browser/device preferences and saved payment methods
- Example: Apple device users will automatically see Apple Pay as the suggested option
Available workaround:
- Store owners can disable unwanted payment methods in their Payment Settings (Settings > Payments)
- Only enabled payment methods will appear as options for customers
- This allows indirect control by removing undesired payment gateways rather than setting a specific default
Hi, @uchiha123 !
Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums and for sharing your concern, I’d be happy to help.
I understand that you would like to set a specific payment gateway as the default selection. Currently, the buttons on the product page display the logo for a third-party accelerated checkout method. The payment gateway shown to customers is generated based on their browser/device’s saved or preferred payment method. For example, if a user with an Apple Device views your product page, Apple Pay will likely be suggested and they will be able to complete their payment using that accelerated checkout method.
Please note that only the payment methods you have enabled in your payment settings will appear as options for your customers. You can disable any payment methods that you would like to remove.
