I am trying to change the dimensions of a slideshow only whilst in mobileview, however, I cant find files which people typically use such as base.css. Is there a way I can do this through slideshow.liquid?

Changing the slideshow size in mobile is a little tricky since your images will be cut off. I would recommend to have a portrait layout images and assign the section for mobile only.
You can follow the video for instructions on assigning a certain section for mobile only

You can use that, just find the class section and paste the code. If you can share your website, I can show where to paste it
