How to check if a customer created an account?

Where in Shopify can I see if a customer signed up for account on my website? I remember it was in the “customers” tab and from memory it used to say something like “has an account” but I don’t see anything anymore?

I am using the recommended login method where they send a code via email, not legacy if that makes a difference

Hi @onyx_au

To check if a customer has signed up for an account on your Shopify store, you can still find this information in the Customers section. However, Shopify has updated its interface, and the way customer account information is displayed may have changed. Here’s how you can check:

Steps to Check if a Customer Has Signed Up for an Account:1. Go to the Shopify Admin:

  • Log in to your Shopify store admin.
  1. Navigate to the “Customers” Section:

    • From the left-hand menu, click on Customers.
  2. View Customer List:

    • You’ll see a list of all your customers here. Each customer will have details like their name, email, and order history.
  3. Check the Account Column:

    • In the Customers section, look for a column that indicates if a customer has an account. If this column is not visible, it might be hidden.

If you don’t see the “Account” column, you can add it:

    • Click the three dots (ellipsis) in the top right of the customer list table.
    • From the dropdown menu, select “Customize columns”.
    • In the customization options, enable the “Account” column, which will show whether a customer has an account (“Yes” or “No”).
  4. Individual Customer Profile:

    • To see more details about a specific customer, click on their name in the customer list.
    • Inside their profile, you will see whether they have created an account (usually indicated by the “Account created” date).

If they don’t have an account, you won’t see an account-related section in their profile.

Additional Information:- Customer Account Creation: Shopify automatically creates a customer account for anyone who makes a purchase, unless the customer opts out.

  • Guest Checkout: If a customer checks out as a guest, they won’t have a customer account associated with their profile.
  • Accounts for Marketing: If you are using Shopify Plus, you might also have access to additional customer account management tools or apps that provide more advanced customer data.

If you still can’t find the information you’re looking for, it’s possible that the layout of your Shopify admin may have been updated or customized, so you may need to explore a bit further or check for any app integrations that manage customer accounts.

Thanks for this detailed answer.

I am not using legacy accounts anymore, I switched last week, I just realised after I created the thread.

I noticed that customer don’t need to create an account anymore if NOT using the legacy account option. But customers get a code to their e-mail address to login and they can see their account info.

I am not seeing any option under the menu that says “Customize columns” anymore.

In general this is a major pain because I’m sure there’s other useful data out there that could be pulled into this table view easily.

You can query easily, but there’s no sort by customer name, nor are results searchable.

I do not not see three dots, or any way to customize the columns to show who has an account. How is this done.
