How to clean up home page feature collection gaps

Hi There,

I am wondering how I can have my feature collection on my home page, in photos next to one another with no gaps above or below, while having the photos lead to links as the feature collection. Am i inserting a wrong section? I am putting ‘feature collection’ as the section, but having a hard time getting it to look like this photo attached. The 4 in a row photos below the large photo, with the “shop now” button appearing when you roll over the photo. My theme is Dawn, I am having a bit of trouble here. Any help would be appreciated:
