We want to create an email marketing flow using Klaviyo to stimulate specific leads to activate their accounts and, later, to convert.
The conditional split needs to separate customers who have activated their Shopify account from those who didn’t, which means we need to track when their customer status changes from “invited” to “enabled”.
We got in touch with Klaviyo to know how we would do that. They said it would require us to send updates on the property field from Shopify to Klaviyo using Shopify Flow. So when the property value changes in Shopify, it would send an event to Klaviyo to notify them of the action.
We set up a flow on Shopify that starts “when customer account enabled” and then creates the action “track an event”. After that, we don’t know what to do and how bring this information to Klaviyo.
Klaviyo automatically insert their JS tracking inside Shopify front-end, if it’s enabled and well integrated into theme (eg. “add to cart” event, can be integrated later into theme).
Shopify Flow won’t be able to send a message to this Klaviyo JS event upfront. But with a little skill, an event can be sent to Klaviyo API following the event.
I suggest you have a look at this official Shopify post on how to deal with HTTP Requests
Hope this isn’t too self promotional, but since it’s relevant I’ll mention that our automation platform (kind of a flow alternative for some use cases) has a Klaviyo integration for tracking an event:
