How to Copy Data from Excel to Shopify Collections Bulk Editor?

Hi everyone,

I need help with copying SEO Titles and Meta Descriptions from an Excel file directly into Shopify’s Collections Bulk Editor. When I try to paste, the data doesn’t transfer.

Is there an effective way to copy the data from Excel file to Shopify’s bulk editor, or are there any workarounds for this?

@famubarik “bulk editor” != spreadsheet software.

Bulk editors better suited for doing changes with the same data for a selected column or bespoke one-offs.

For sanity with real ETL workflows use an import app such as matrixify, ez-exporter , or setup automations using a tool like usemechanic to get data from an online shared resource such as from google-sheet/excel

Thank you for suggesting the use of the Matrixify app.

You sure can use Matrixify to bulk import SEO Title and SEO Description for your Shopify collections from an Excel spreadsheet file.

Here we have a great tutorial How to bulk update Shopify SEO Title and Description with Matrixify app.

But in your case you would just need to create an Excel file with the following columns:

  • “Handle” column with the collections URL handle to identify a collection in the store.
  • “Metafield: title_tag” with the SEO Title.
  • “Metafield: description_tag” with the SEO Description.

When importing your file, in the app select to import the file as Smart Collections (automated) or Custom Collections (manual) depending on which ones you are updating in your store.
