I have a customized Dawn theme, and I need two “contact” pages. I tried creating a copy of the original page.contact.json template, renaming it, and copying over the code, but that didn’t work. I’m gathering it has to do with Sections. I don’t need any sections to be different, I just want to be able to assign two templates so that I can edit one and it won’t change the other.
Any help is much appreciated!

Great question! I believe what you want to do in this case is duplicate the template for the contact-us page from inside the theme editor, not the code editor.
If you open your active theme editor you will see a drop down menu with “Home Page” listed, click that and then choose Pages > Create Template. From the pop up window that appears choose the Contact-Us page template as the base. This will create a second version of the contact-us page template that you can design within the theme editor and then apply to your live contact-us page when ready.
