How to create a wholesale-only online store?

Hey all,

I need to create an online store for wholesale only.

  • Main requirement is that businesses to request access before seeing wholesale prices and ordering.
  • This store will not be used for DTC.
  • Its a side hustle with about 15 SKUs and needs to be affordable.
  • MVP would accept credit card payments, invoicing / terms optional at this stage.

Could I just do a basic Shopify store with something like Helium Custom Fields? Or would I also need to bring in something like Wholesale/B2B Sparklayer app?

A combination of our Customer Fields app in conjunction with Sparklayer is a powerful combination. Just my .02 cents.

I’ve side hustled and bootstrapped several businesses so I understand how important it is to minimize up front costs.

The absolute cheapest way to start would be to customize a contact form with the information you need and manually add customers. You would need to manually implement access control (read our blog) and you also might want to require customer accounts for checkout (see YouTube video)
