Hey everyone,
I’d like to know how to build a subscription bundle similar to the reference site.
Hey everyone,
I’d like to know how to build a subscription bundle similar to the reference site.
Hey Jay!
I looked into the Lilac St. reference. They’re using Loop Subscriptions with their bundle feature to do a “build your box” model where customers pick products, get tiered discounts, and choose their delivery frequency.
To replicate something similar you have a few options:
Subscribee (full transparency, I work with this app). It handles subscriptions and Bundles for physical products on Shopify with flexible delivery intervals and discount options. If you need help setting it up for a bundle subscription model, our support team can walk you through the configuration.
Appstle Subscriptions is another solid option with build-a-box and mix and match bundles. More established, bigger feature set.
Seal Subscriptions + Bundler combo if you want to keep subscriptions and bundling as separate apps. Simpler to start with but less integrated.
For the bundle builder page itself (the UI where customers pick their items), you’ll likely need to combine whichever subscription app you choose with a bundling app or some custom liquid/JS work, since that’s the most custom part of what Lilac St. built.
Hope that helps!
Hey @Jay_Patel8745
The reason their experience feels so good, custom imagery, smooth selector, real time price updates, is that it’s custom coded into the theme using the subscription app’s API rather than relying on the app’s default widgets.
If you want a similar experience without going full custom, your closest off the shelf options are: Appstle Subscriptions (handles both subscriptions and bundles natively, decent UI, around $10 to $50/month), Bold Subscriptions with a bundle builder add on, or Simple Bundles + Skio combo which is what a lot of growing DTC brands use. None of these will match Lilac St’s exact look out of the box though, you’ll still need theme customization to make it feel premium.
Real talk, if you want it to feel as professional as their reference site, plan on either using one of those apps as the backend and getting the front end custom built into your theme, or going further and building a fully custom build-your-bundle interface that talks to the subscription app’s API directly. The app alone won’t get you 90% of the way there visually, that’s where the development work comes in.
Happy to take a look at your specific products and what you’re trying to offer, can give you a more concrete recommendation on which app stack would fit best and what level of customization you’d realistically need.
Best,
Moeed
Lilac St.'s “Build a Box” flow is so smooth, but replicating that exact mix-and-match UI on Shopify without making your admin a total nightmare to manage is the real trick. If you just grab an off-the-shelf app, you usually end up with either a rigid box structure that breaks when you update inventory, or an ugly interface that kills conversion. To get that seamless layout, you’ll definitely need to build a custom frontend with Liquid/JS that talks to a subscription API like Skio or Appstle so the backend still auto-renews and tracks stock correctly without manual staff hacking every month.
If you’re looking to create a Build Your Own Box experience similar to the example shown, where customers can freely mix and match products, see a real-time box summary, and unlock discounts based on the number of items selected, then Easify Box Bundle Builder BYOB could be a great fit ![]()
To help illustrate the idea, I created a similar demo:
With Easify, you can organize products into different categories such as Sheets, Pillows, or any other collections, then allow customers to freely build their own bundle by selecting the products they want.
As customers make their selections, the chosen products are automatically displayed in the Box Summary panel on the right. They can easily track the number of items added, current subtotal, applied discounts, and total savings in real time.
You can also configure tiered discounts in the Discount & Subscription section. For example, customers can receive 20% off when purchasing 3–5 items, 40% off when purchasing 6–8 items, and 60% off when purchasing 9 or more items. The discount is automatically updated as products are added to or removed from the box.
If you’d like to offer subscriptions as well, the app integrates with several popular subscription solutions. Customers can choose between a one-time purchase or a recurring subscription directly within the bundle-building experience.
Overall, if your goal is to create a page where customers can build their own bundle, mix products from different categories, unlock dynamic discounts, and view a real-time summary of their selections, then Easify Box Bundle Builder (BYOB) can handle this type of setup very well. ![]()
