Why is “Payouts Today” the most prominent number listed in my app dashboard? And listed everywhere for employees to see on the computer? It’s misleading, as it’s not reflecting any single day sales, and it’s easy for employees to think that’s all cash flowing into my pockets.
What I REALLY want is to be able to customize my dashboard and what numbers and data are feeding into it. We all have different businesses with different priorities. I have Point of Sale and Brick and Mortar with employees, while other people are solo entrepreneurs running online-only stores…
Honest part first: you can’t customize the admin home dashboard itself, there’s no setting to remove or move the “Payouts Today” number, so that specific frustration doesn’t have a direct fix.
The fully customizable dashboard you’re describing genuinely doesn’t exist yet, and it’s a fair ask, so if you want it on record, post it on community.shopify.dev where Shopify’s product team actually engages, since a request here won’t reach them.
Totally agree, customizable dashboards would be a game changer. Having sensitive financial data so visible can be really impractical for daily operations.
I can see why that would be frustrating. “Payouts Today” isn’t always the most meaningful metric especially for businesses with physical stores and staff where it can easily be misunderstood. A customizable dashboard would be a great improvement. Being able to choose which metrics appear first such as today’s sales orders POS performance or payouts would make the dashboard much more relevant to different types of businesses instead of relying on a one size fits all layout.
