How to deal with a frustrating web design partner for Shopify integration?

Topic summary

Issue: A merchant reports a frustrating engagement with a recommended web design partner (Rebo) while trying to integrate a dropshipping supplier with Shopify. Dropshipping integration = connecting a store to a third‑party supplier for order fulfillment.

Timeline and claims:

  • Partner urged building a non‑Shopify site, assuring easy integrations.
  • Build took 5–6 weeks, longer than agreed. When integration time came, partner requested several thousand dollars extra because the site wasn’t compatible with the chosen dropshipper.
  • Merchant refused, citing they paid for Shopify. After back‑and‑forth, partner agreed to rebuild on Shopify.
  • Months later, progress remains slow. Merchant alleges bait‑and‑switch and warns others not to use the company.

Official response and next steps:

  • A Shopify representative apologized and advised submitting a Partner Violation report if the partner is affiliated with Shopify and breaching partner terms. The Partner Governance team will review and follow up.

Status:

  • Unresolved/ongoing. Awaiting the partner’s Shopify rebuild and any outcome from the governance review. Key uncertainty: the partner’s compliance with Shopify’s partner terms.

I signed up for a Shopify account 4 months ago. I used a web design partner who they recommended. (Rebo web design) This has been the most frustrating company to ever work with. First they tried to switch me to a non Shopify site. I explained that the drop ship website I want to integrate with uses Shopify so that’s why I signed up. They said my website would be much better not using Shopify and that all drop ship companies will integrate easily. I trusted them so they built a site, that took 5-6 weeks (longer than the time frame we spoke about) and when it came time to integrate the drop ship company they said it would cost an additional couple thousand because the new website they built doesn’t integrate with the drop ship company I want! I said I will not pay that. I paid for Shopify and that’s not right. After much back and forth with different people they agreed to rebuild the site to a Shopify site. Now it has been months and they are taking their sweet time to get this done. I just want what I paid for and I think Shopify should know that they are bait and switching their customers! Do not use this company! They are unethical!
