I’m looking for advice on how to better manage our shipping zones and country lists to reduce administrative cleanup.
The Problem: We currently do not ship to certain overseas countries because we haven’t found a way to reliably calculate shipping costs for them in real-time. However, we are seeing frequent instances where overseas customers select a “fake” shipping country at checkout just to bypass the restriction and place their order. This requires significant admin time to clean up and correct.
The Goal: We are looking for a solution to achieve either of the following:
- Sever the connection between Admin and Checkout: Is there a way (native or via app) to separate the list of countries available in the Shopify Admin from the list visible in online checkout? We want to be able to book an order in the admin shipping to any country in the world without exposing all those countries as valid shipping options in the public checkout.
- Reliably calculate overseas shipping: Alternatively, what are the best methods or apps for calculating reliable, automated overseas shipping fees so we can simply accept these orders without losing money on shipping?
Has anyone found a workaround for separating these country lists, or a rock-solid solution for calculating international rates that would allow us to open these regions up safely?
