I’m currently trying to build an online store that sells sweets, fudge, American candy, and drinks.
I have a pick-and-mix pouch that is a “Build your own pouch” style.
I’m currently using the Shopify app called “Dynamic Product Options” and I’m having a bit of bother with it,
When a customer chooses their mix and clicks view cart, or goes to check out, the list that they have selected doesn’t show up in the cart or checkout, so I can’t see what they’ve chosen and neither can the customer.
Does anyone know if I need to purchase the higher tier for that to show? Or am I missing something?
I have the $19.00 version if that helps.
Also is there a way that I can make the list of sweets i the build your own section look more appealing? It’s just check boxes and square images all over the place.
I’ll also share some images if that will help too. One image is how I’m hoping for it to look like once fixed.
You can create a collection of the products you want to offer and specify how many products should be chosen. All the items will be added to the cart in separate lines.
Find our app here. Trusted by more than 6000 active merchants
Our app, Build Your Own Bundles can support building your own candy bag. All candies can be displayed on a single page. Here’s sample bundle you can try. As you can see, the individual items are added to the cart.
We can also support tiered discounts. If you have multiple tiers, they can be shown in a single bundle.
Did you manage to solve it? If so which app did you use in the end, I am pulling what little hair I have left out trying to get something that works. If you could adivse what you used if you got this to work.
I tried the apps mentioned in replies but I couldn’t get any of them to work the way I wanted them to.
The one that worked for me is variant option product options. There were alot of issue as it changed anything that had a varient on the website. It also created alot of error pages when a customer wanted to add to cart. But the developers were cool and sorted it out.
No we started our business during covid, but we never did the build your own pick n mix. But we are having a relaunch and this was the biggest request from our customers. But I have tried multiple different options but none worked how we wanted. Which is very frustrating to say the least. I did find one when our customers first asked for this option but off course I didn’t save it or add it to our store (school boy error). Now looking and cannot find it.
I will certainly give this one a go and play around with it. Hopefully this will be the option that helps us.
Yes I managed to get the app working which now we have implemented across a wider range of our products making our site more sleek and easier to use. I didn’t think it would work how I expected but it did. I would have liked the option to allow customers to add plus 1 of an item but they don’t do that. I did mail them, they suggested an alternative but when I trailed it, it was bulky and awkward to configure. So left it how it was, and it’s working perfeclty.
We use easify app which works exactly how we want it, our customers can add extra to our pic n mix pouches of each item and we have implemented this across many products. It costs about £10 a month but worth it for us.

Based on what you described, Easify Product Options can fully meet the requirements you need. Customers can choose the items they want, and most importantly, the complete list of selected products will be clearly displayed at checkout - so both you and your customers know exactly what they picked.
Here’s an example I’ve created so you can see how it works:
In addition, you can display the sweets list as image swatches, with each sweet shown using a clear image in a clean, well-organized layout- much more visually appealing than scattered checkboxes with separate square images. This makes the “build your own pouch” experience more intuitive, polished, and closer to the sample websites you’re looking to replicate.
In the app, you just need to create an Image Swatch option for “Select Your Sweets”; each option value will correspond to a specific candy. For each candy, enable Allow Quantity Selector for option value so customers can not only choose yes/no, but also increase or decrease the quantity for each flavor - exactly like the + / – buttons in the demo you’re using.
In addition, the items customers select in the box are added to the cart as real Shopify line items, not just notes or hidden options. So when they reach Checkout, they’ll still see every product in the pouch (name, image, quantity, etc.), which helps avoid the “not sure what I picked” issue you’re currently experiencing.
Built for ease of use, Easify Box Builder allows anyone to complete the setup quickly through a clear, intuitive interface, without requiring technical skills.
