How to display business @ top in Google Searches

I am not tech savvy at all! How (in layman’s terms, not techie) do we improve and move up where our store displays with google searches so that we are not on page 2,3,4,etc?

Hello Vacman, thank you for your question and welcome to the Shopify AMA, I’m your host, Emmanuel from FeedArmy.

If you don’t do much advertising, then first step is to forget about being at the top in google searches. Being at the top, does not guarantee profits. In fact this is something I never personally look at.

All my clients goals are profits, that means we look at ROAS. In other words return on advertising spend.

And we setup campaigns based on a ROAS target, so that we can automate bidding to achieve sales at a profitable target.

Now if you would want to advertise just to be at the top, you will most likely not be profitable, but if that is your goal, consider setting a high budget and high bidding.

You can improve your ranking, when you also improve your product data, what I do for clients is improve and add every single attribute, you can do this by following the requirements and recommendations here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112?hl=en

Then setup a performance max campaign with a low or no ROAS. Great for starting out.

Ultimately, I don’t recommend focusing on being number 1. That usually means spending so much you are not profitable. Instead focus on advertising based on ROAS. And by improving your product data you can have better positioning at the same time.

And if you really want to squeeze out being number one, for specific search terms, have a look at setting up an advanced standard shopping campaign here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiRIDzRrHno

Thank you for your advice! Love our Shopify support!!
