How to display color swatches for multiple items on a website?

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner is experiencing inconsistent color swatch display across product listings.

The Problem:

  • Older products (uploaded when the store had <1000 items) correctly show color swatches for variants (e.g., a jacket with 6 colors displays properly)
  • Newer products no longer display these swatches, despite having multiple color variants (e.g., a 7-color jacket shows no swatches)

Suggested Cause:
One respondent suggests the color swatches may be implemented via metafields, and the issue likely stems from metafields not being added to newer products.

Recommended Solution:
Another user advises seeking developer assistance to resolve the technical issue, offering help if needed.

Status: The discussion remains open with no confirmed resolution. The core issue appears to be a metafield configuration problem affecting products added after store expansion.

It looks like you have implemented colors via metafields or similar solution and you have not added metafields to other products that’s why those are not showing

Hello @sebastiaanjopp ,

If you are not a technically aware person yourself, a developer needs to fix your issue. Please, let me know if you need assistance.

Best regards,
