I’m a developer working with a bunch of Shopify Plus clients, and I’ve run into a bit of a headache with discount codes
A lot of my clients have international stores, but the discount codes are stuck with the store’s base currency. So, when we want to offer discounts in multiple currencies like EUR, USD, and GBP, it turns into a bit of a mess. The currency conversion isn’t smooth at all, and right now, the only fix we’ve found is to manually adjust the conversions—which is definitely not ideal for anyone.
What I really need is a way to have a code like WELCOME10 give a straightforward 10€/10£/10$ off when someone spends more than 100€/100£/100$. I’m honestly surprised Shopify doesn’t have this built in already.
I’ve tried out a few currency apps, but nothing’s really done the trick. Has anyone else dealt with this and found a good solution? Any tips or advice would be awesome!
@EcomMax , might be a silly suggestion, but why can’t they create discounts with percentages off instead of amount off? Wouldn’t that work in any market?
I found this because I have the same issue. Sure percentages would work but sometimes you just want to use fixed amounts. Also I need it to work only in certain markets, i.e. US but not UK.

I agree percentages can be useful in some situations, they don’t work well for our product range. We have items with significantly different price points—for example, skincare and serums priced under 50 €, and devices ranging from 500 to 1000 €. Because of this, I can’t rely on percentage-based discounts, I need to offer precise amounts off.
Also, I want to provide a consistent discount experience across different currencies. Ideally, I’d like to use a code like PRO20, which would offer 20€/£/$ off when customers spend 200€/£/$, without relying on a fixed currency conversion. This way the discount is clear, no matter what currency the customer is using

Hi Karoshi, thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check it out, though I really like Pixoo—it works perfectly and fixed my past issues. Smarty Discount seems a bit confusing and tries to do too much. I prefer apps that solve one problem well. I’ll share feedback if I try it.
