How to effectively organize sports apparel categories in Shopify Dawn Theme?

Hi Guys, Id love someone input on this.

Im confused on the collections/Categories/Products/Types etc.

If you had a store selling hoodies— T-shirts ----Caps for different sports.

I Have a Navigation with Men *Women Children Sports

I want customer to find gender so eg.

Men-Hoodie-Sport or of course (women or children)

Men-T-shirt-Sport

Men-Cap-Sport

Or the other was is through selecting

Sport-Men-Hoodie

Sport-Men-T-shirt

Sport-Men-Cap

Im using Shopify Dawn Theme and would like to be able for customers to find what they are looking quickly.

The fact there is unisex shirts and hoodies that apply to same categories/Collections.

with so many sports there is hiking.biking.skiing.snowboarding.climbing.parasailing.paragliding…etc.

Is there a better option or app anyone recommend or a better them? (But I do like dawns simplicity)

Im concerned to get it right the first time so I can automate products into the right categories.

Any one with this experience would be a great help. someone who understands the logic.

Both of ways you described are doable and only depend on your liking.

Make sure your products are tagged accordingly, like “mens”, “womens”, “unisex” etc. Then, create a menu of your choice. It could be like this:

Sport

  • Mens

    • Hoodies
    • T-Shirts
    • Pants

  • Women

    • Hoodies
    • T-shirts

Create collection with the chosen sport (automatically populate by tag “football”, for example). Then, create other collections with sports men / women / unsex (automatically populate by tag “football” and “mens” or “football” and “womens”)

Then, to make sure you have Sport-Men-Hoodie category that populates automatically, link it to Sports - Men collection and filter by tag “hoodies”.
