How to enable multicurrency checkout on my store based in India

For now, I have a third-party checkout provider on my shopify store, but that is causing some issues with global affiliate partnerships.

Any ideas on how to enable multicurrency checkouts on shopify India directly?

Shopify Payments are restricted in India. So multicurrency checkout is not possible.

@Jiwya ,

  • True multi-currency checkout on Shopify requires Shopify Payments
  • Shopify Payments is not available for Indian businesses
  • native multi-currency checkout is not possible in India right now

What you can do instead :

  1. Set store base currency to USD → helps with global affiliates & international buyers
  2. Use PayPal + international gateways for foreign customers
  3. Use Razorpay/PayU for Indian INR payments
  4. Use currency switcher apps (display only; checkout stays in base currency)

This is a good solution and I have infact tried this. But even when we set up the currency to USD, someone in France will still have to pay in USD correct? For INR, it makes sense to use razorpay, but I am more concerned with other international currencies

Hi,

Hope this will help

Indian Shopify stores can’t enable true multicurrency checkout because of RBI regulations.

You can show multiple currencies, but checkout must settle in INR. The only real way to get native multicurrency checkout is to use UPI(Local) , Paypal Payments(for international customers) etc. Use a currency switcher app to display local currencies while keeping checkout in INR.
