How to enable the 'coming soon' list of people to buy first

I have an item which is ‘coming soon’ I want to enable the customers who have left their email to be notified when it is released the opportunity to purchase the item 1st - before everyone else.

Is there a way to do this or will I just have to have the item active and send them an email and if other people happen to be on the wesbite purchase it first then so be it?

Send the product live but don’t include it in any collections, menus etc. That way only way to get to it is if you have a link.

It will be findable via site search, related products etc but that seems a fairly minor risk.
