I would like to know how to enable the pay later function of PayPal without using Shopify Payment
To activate PayPal’s “Pay Later” option without using Shopify Payments, add PayPal as a payment provider in Settings > Payments in your Shopify admin then, under PayPal, click Manage. Ensure you have linked a PayPal Business account. Pay Later is automatically enabled by PayPal based on buyer eligibility and geography, so it’s not a separate switch in Shopify. If it doesn’t appear, log into your PayPal Business account, visit the Pay Later messaging settings page, and enable it there. Shopify will then create a Pay Later menu in the checkout to show the available payment options based on the customer’s location and cart.

You can enable BNPL functionality without using Shopify Payment. You can use SPD Split Payment & Deposit - Shopify Deposit Payment & Split Pay App: Best Choice 2025 | Shopify App Store
The Split Payment app can create BNPL functionality using PayPal Express as the payment gateway. You can set up deposit payments where customers pay a percentage upfront via PayPal, then we automatically charge the remaining balance later. The Split Payment app also offers installment payments that split orders into multiple scheduled payments.
So while it’s not PayPal’s BNPL feature, you get similar functionality through the deferred payment options with PayPal as the processor.
