How to ensure customers read a product note

Hi,

On my shop we sell birthday cakes and they are sent out 1 week or less before the birthday. On the product page when selecting the different flavours shapes etc for the cake, we ask for the “Date of the Birthday” so we can ensure the cake gets there on time and fresh for the day.

However when customers order a cake, with other items, we do state above the date selector that orders with cakes wont get dispatched until 1 week or less before the date provided and yet we still get so many customers who order cakes for end of December, January etc emailing asking where there order is.

Has anyone got any good ideas on a better way to ensure customers see and read that this product will be delivered for the date they provide? So if its a month away, then it wont be dispatched for a few weeks still.

Thanks

Perhaps you could include it in the order confirmation email too. Something like “Kindly keep in mind that the cake won’t get dispatched until 1 week or less before the date provided, as stated in your order form on our website”, something like that.

I had a look at your website, and I think potentially what’s confusing people is that you have it on your banner that says: “Please allow 5-7 working days for your order to be dispatched, thank you!” And your shipping policy nor FAQ do not state the order will only be dispatched 7 days before the actual birthday/or whatever selected date.

It would be a lot more clear if you update your policies and FAQ to specifically address this question.

Secondly to make it more foo proof, you could add an estimated dispatch date underneath your date picker, so when the customer select the date, the dispatch date changes dynamically to show the order will be dispatched on x date (i.e. 7 days before the due date). And add this date to your order confirmation email.

This should be fairly simple to implement, a couple of lines of codes on your product page.

Hi @Emmalouuise ,

I propose incorporating a mandatory checkbox right above the “Add to Cart” button. This checkbox would request customers to confirm the anticipated delivery date, corresponding to the birthday.

Another potential approach to consider is eliminating the requirement for customers to select the birthday date. Instead, add a “Delivery Date” option, enabling customers to specify their Preferred Delivery Date or Date Range.

Moreover, to enhance the visual appeal of your options, explore the utilization of Dropdowns with images or captivating Image Swatches.

While I understand you are already utilizing a product options app, you might want to explore Easify Product Options to further enhance your options based on the aforementioned suggestions :hugs: .
