If I wish to have say a 20% off stocktake sale, how do I exclude New arrivals and Sale collections? I have some brands that are strict on their products RRP not being reduce if they are less than 6 weeks old and I don’t wish to reduce any sale items further.

This is a great question! What you would want to do is create a collection in your store admin that is not visible to the online store (don’t add any links to it in your navigation) and use that collection for the promotional discount code.
Depending on the size of your collections, there are a few ways you can do this. When creating the discount code you can choose which collections are included in the code. So you will need to find the most effective method of sorting the items that ARE included in the discount in order to get them into one specific collection. If you are already using specific product tags to sort your items, then that is the easiest way to pull in the items you want into a new collection.
Many merchants may find it easiest to first create an automatic collection to group the sale items together and then duplicate that collection as a manual collection. The discount code creation process requires a manual collection in order to work, which is why you would need to recreate the collection if using automatic options first.
