How to Export Shop Images (Banners, Slideshow Images, etc.)

Topic summary

A user seeks to export theme-related images (banners, slideshows, logos) from one Shopify store to import into another with the same theme, excluding product photos.

Initial Challenge:

  • The suggested native method (Settings > Files) lacks a bulk export feature—only individual file uploads or link copying are available.

Solutions Provided:

  • Third-party apps are the primary workaround:
    • Filey (free): Successfully used by the original poster to download shop data including images
    • Export Product Images: Offers filtering by product status, vendor, collection, and date; customizable naming and folder structures
    • Mega Media Exporter: Handles product images, videos, and 3D models
    • Image Flow: Enables bulk export/upload with selectable output formats
  • A blog post detailing three export methods (bulk, individual, third-party apps) was shared as a reference.

Unresolved Issue:
No native Shopify solution exists for bulk asset export, despite requests dating back at least four years. Users must rely on third-party applications to accomplish this task.

Hello,

I am trying to find a way to export the images from one shop and import them into another with the same theme. Looking to export the image files for image banners, slideshows, logos and photos used throughout my shop pages. I don’t need the product listing photos.

Apparently once exported, you can simply drop the photos into the “Files” section (found in Settings) of the new shop you want the pictures.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello There,

  1. You can export the images from your current store by using the file export feature in the Shopify admin panel. Go to the “Settings” > “Files” section and select the images you want to export. Once exported, you can import them into your new store by uploading them to the “Files” section in the new store.

Hello Coddvila, Thank you for the reply. I am unable to find the export feature when I am in Files. The only option I have is to upload files or copy the link of individual photos. Is there something I am missing here? Thank you!

UPDATE: I was able to find a free app called “Filey” that downloads your shop data including images and product listings. It worked perfect for transferring my data to another store.

Hi there!

Recently, I have read a blog on the issue you mentioned. Here, they described step-by-step guidelines for importing images in every way like exporting images in bulk or individually from the Shopify store and even using third party apps from Shopify store. Besides, some tricks were given as well.

I am just sharing the blog link with you and hoping it might be helpful for you- 3 Ways To Easily Export Images From Shopify Store

Is there still no native solution to export your assets other than a third-party app? There is another thread that this was promised 4 years ago.

Hi all,

You can use the Export Product Images app to download all your product & variant images with flexible filtering, subfolder & image name options. The app enables users to filter images according to;

  • the product status (All, Active, Draft and Archived)
  • vendor
  • collection
  • creation date range

And then you can select the image name structure as;

  • original name
  • SKU & position
  • Barcode & position
  • Original name & SKU

And also folder structure is customizable according to;

  • Product Title
  • Product ID
  • SKU

The app downloads all the selected product images as you set it up.

You can find the demo video as here;

In order to export product images / videos / 3d models you can use Mega Media Exporter app

You can use this app called Image Flow , it allows you to bulk export and even upload images. You can export multiple products or collections and select the output format as well

On the admin page go to Content > Files and from there you can download

There is no export button/option when selecting files in this manner.
