How to feature digital products on Simple Theme homepage?

Hi, I’m using the Simple Theme to set up my new shop. I’m going to sell digital downloadable product. Im trying to add my products to the feature product on my home page and nothing is happening. Can somebody please help. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Ada21 ,

Shopify theme does not support you to sell digital downloadable products, it only supports products that are shipped in packages or similar.

So if you want to set up it, you need to install the app. Refer https://apps.shopify.com/digital-downloads or https://apps.shopify.com/search?q=Digital%20Downloads

It will help you in this case.

Regardless of what type of product it is, whether it is physical or digital, you should still be able to showcase it as a featured product. What steps do you take to set this up? Just in case, a featured product is added to the homepage the following way:

  • Go to Online store > Customize in your Shopify Admin.
  • On the left hand side, go to Add section and select Featured product:

  • From there, click into the featured product section and then click Select product - this brings you to where you can choose the one that you want to feature.

Keeping those steps in mind, could you let me know at what point you’re finding that it does not work? Any screenshots/further details would be very helpful.

As mentioned by @LitExtension , it is true that you need additional setup for digital products, but this does not necessarily affect their ability to be showcased as ‘featured products’ on the homepage. The app they mentioned, Digital Downloads will allow you to email your customers the links with the files that they have purchased after they go through the checkout.

For additional setup of a digital products store, you should also see our help doc on Selling Digital Products for additional tips and info. Also, do tell me a little bit more about your products, and I will see if there is anything else I can advise!

Thank you. I did do that. I figured out that if my products were not “Active” they would not be able to be put on home page. So I was finally able to put them on my home page.

Hi Lana! I am having the same issue and i cant seem to figure out how to upload a new product to my theme template. The option to add it to the template theme is “grayed out” and its not providing me the dropdown option. All my products are 'Active" but it still gives me no option to put it as a product theme template
