How to fix the tax breakdown on POS receipts?

Topic summary

Issue: Shopify POS receipts list multiple tax lines (state, county, district), which confuses customers and uses extra paper. Store owners want a single consolidated line such as “Tax: $X.XX.”

Context: The original poster heard a recent POS update enables in-depth receipt customization via coding but lacks coding experience and seeks a straightforward, non-technical way (or a ready-made snippet) to show a single tax total.

Community input: Another participant reports the same need, arguing this should be a simple receipt setting (toggle between breakdown vs. simple). They plan to share a fix if found. A subsequent commenter asks whether any resolution exists.

Status: No confirmed solution, setting, or code is provided in the thread. The request remains open, with users awaiting either a built-in POS option or a clear, safe customization method.

Hello,

We starting using Shopify POS a few months ago and have not been a fan of the tax breakdown on customer receipts (state, county, district, etc) since it confuses customers and wastes a lot of receipt paper. I was informed that there was a new POS updated that allows in-depth customizations through coding. I’m not familiar with coding and don’t really want to break something due to my lack of knowledge. I was hoping someone had already fixed their store or knows what we should replace the tax section with so it will just have a single tax line that has “Tax: $X.XX”

Thank you!

Also having this issue. This should be a simple check box within the receipt settings, breakdown or simple. I will be back if I discover a fix.

any resolution on this one?
