Hi guys, I want to make the vimeo 7 second clip I uploaded to the product page gallery autoplay instead of appear with the play button and then click. Is there any way to get it to auto play without having to click the play button ?

- Which theme are you currently using?
- What kind of information are you sharing in your product video?
- Why do you want the product video to autoplay? Have you been finding that customers are missing important product information?
Starting in April 2018, Google Chrome by default disabled autoplay on videos that have sound. This article explains more about that change. Mobile devices, particularly Android and iOS devices, also disable autoplay videos to save users mobile data. This means that autoplay videos are often disabled by default based on the browser the customer is using.
We also typically advise against having autoplay videos for a few different reasons explained below:
- It can have a negative impact on accessibility. Visually impaired users that use screen readers can’t hear the screen, or find how to stop the video. Autoplay videos can also cause discomfort, or even pain, for some users who are sensitive to movement or sound. By ensuring that the customer has control over the video playback, a site is more accessible to a wider audience.
- Some people browse the internet while watching TV, on the phone at the same time, or completing other tasks. Autoplay videos can interrupt the user’s task, which will most likely lead to page abandonment. Allowing the user to choose when to play the video can help avoid this.
- Many users will automatically close a browser tab that has sound by default. This means that an autoplay video can cause a merchant to lose sales and hurt their overall conversion.
- Customers browsing on mobile devices appreciate the opportunity to save the video for later when they are connected to wifi rather than using up cell data.
