Hi all, first thank you for any insight or help given, I have searched a lot through the internet and discussion forums to try and fix it myself, but have been unable to find a solution specific for my problem. I have two to be exact, with one probably needing to be asked elsewhere:
- I made customizable products in my shopify store and used transparent pngs for their image, all of them have a white background in the store, in the admin side of the house, the transparency is there. CSS has been the bane of my coding background, and I’m not familiar with how shopify and the themes implement it, so its kind of difficult for me to figure out. Any help would be fantastic.
The theme I am using is Taste, a product example in my store would be this: Egyptian Cartouche Gold Pendant | 1-Sided – This.Is.Velazquez (charlesvelazquez.com)
- Does anybody know how shopify handles transparent images when syncing to sales channels? I am having the same white background issue on my Facebook sales page as well, is this something I can resolve within shopify or it would be Facebook? Managing facebook commerce is such a huge pain to navigate.
with transparent backgrounds on your product page… what colour are you expecting the background to be? If I change the background of the container that the image is in, then it changes to that colour.
Thanks so much for the response, after I posted the question, I fiddled with it some more and figured it out (my inability to properly organize transparent versions of a photo for upload impacting some but not all).
So that part is done, do you happen to have any information regarding the sales channel? The transparent images definitely are given white backgrounds here, not sure if its Shopify or facebook doing this: Egyptian Cartouche Gold Pendant | 1-Sided | Facebook
I’m digging further into documentation and settings to hopefully find something.
Edit 1: I can confirm that there appears to be some kind of conversion that happens between shopify and facebook commerce as inspecting the product image is a jpg file, but when I go into Facebook Commerce and manually update the image to the original png version, it is transparent. The issue though is that when Shopify syncs with the Commerce site, it will overwrite any manual changes, so this seems like a Shopify issue in what it is providing to the commerce site when it syncs I think.
the facebook image requirements want a white background so its transparent they are just going to make it white. I’m not even sure what would happen if you tried to upload something with a different coloured background
