How to handle unknown sessions in a new online store?

Hello,

So I’ve only started my store a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been getting massed spammed with a bunch of sessions from a headless browser idk if this is bots or something I’ve done but I’d much appreciate if someone could tell me how to fix it/what it is.

https://keyaholic.com/ is the website, and photo for reference.

hi @keyaholic

It is so hard to prevent Unknown Sessions because there are a lot users use browers addon to hide their information. That is why sometime you get unknown session on your site

Hi @keyaholic

I definitely understand your concern, it is something we hear from a lot of new merchants who want to ensure their site stability and security.

I want to assure you that seeing traffic like that is totally normal and expected, especially on a new store. Generally, these are bots from external services that scrape websites and collate data that is public facing. This is not a risk to your business, it should not affect your website loading speed, and it is pretty standard.

Not only can spikes in traffic be from scraping bots, but also from word of mouth link sharing through online communities.

I had a look at your store and I just wanted to say I love your layout. It’s clean, easy to understand and very shoppable. If you are open to some suggestions, I have included a few things I noted below.

  • Your FAQ page notes that customers can use the “contact us” button on the website but there is none I could find. I recommend changing the FAQ page template to a contact us template so that there is a contact form at the bottom of the page as well as the direct email address.
  • The “Who are we” section on the home page has some spelling errors in it. As it is a main focal point on the home page I definitely recommend reviewing that! Spelling errors can negatively affect a customer’s trust in the website.
  • You don’t have any of your policy pages up, which is very important for brand and customer trust. Customers need to know what your return/refund policy is, how you manage their data and what your terms of service are for using the website. There are templates you can use as a base, so you don’t need to write these from scratch. You can update this content and then add it as pages to your footer or header under Settings > Policies in your admin.
