Regarding to your issue, It seems like your current theme do not support uploading new images for mobile. You can try new theme to see if this issues still occur.

I think to make this, we need login admin to change some code, or if you know about code you need add more class for desktop and mobile different, then using css to hide desktop or mobile.
I dont know how to code it. Could you send a request so i can make you as an admin?
