How to know the convertion rate of my shopify landing page?

Hey, a lot of our members ask this when they spin up a landing page and then can’t find a single “landing page CVR” button.

In Shopify Admin, go to Analytics > Reports and open Sessions by landing page. Add / turn on the conversion columns if they aren’t showing. Find your landing page URL in the list. That conversion rate is sessions that started on that page and later completed a purchase.

One gotcha: it’s attributed to where the session started, not necessarily the product they bought. If someone lands on your landing page and checks out a different SKU, the landing page still gets credit. Fine for “did this page create buyers,” wrong if you wanted true product-page CVR for one SKU.

For the whole-store funnel (session to cart to checkout to purchase), use Conversion rate breakdown / Conversion rate over time in the same Reports area. That tells you where people drop, not which landing page won.

If the page is a custom Shopify page or a product/collection URL used as a landing page, same Sessions by landing page report. No extra app required to get the basic number.

That report gets you the number, but it will lie to you if the page takes traffic from more than one place.

Sessions by landing page is a session count and it doesnt split by source. So if that page gets paid traffic and also picks up organic, direct and email, the CVR youre reading is all of them blended together. Cold paid traffic converts nothing like your email list does, and when the mix shifts week to week the number moves even though the page never changed. Ive watched people rewrite a perfectly good page because of that.

The fix is to add a dimension or a filter. Open the same Sessions by landing page report and add session referrer or UTM campaign, or just filter down to the one source you care about. Then youre looking at the CVR of that page for the traffic you actually sent to it, which is the only version worth optimizing against.

Two other things before you act on whatever number comes back. Shopify credits the session to where it started, so someone who lands on the page and buys a different product still counts for that page. Thats fine if the question is did this page create buyers, and wrong if you wanted product level CVR.

And on low volume its mostly noise. Under a few hundred sessions a week, two orders either way swings the rate by a point, so look at the trend across four weeks instead of reacting to one week. How much traffic is the page getting?
