How to link Shopify + Google Merchants Account (different emails)

I have the following setup:

  1. Shopify account email: XYZ@businessmail.com

  2. Google Ads / Google Merchant Center / Google Analytics: ABC@hotmail.com

I am looking to add the Google channel in Shopify to enable my product feed to be integrated with my Google Merchants Account as described here.

However, I am unsure how to correctly set this up. From the description it sounds as if I will need to change the login-email for all my Google accounts to my Shopify login email. However, this would be very impractical for us - and I’m looking to understand if there is another and simpler way to achieve the sync?

Thank you!

I recommend that you add XYZ@businessmail.com as an admin to all accounts. It’s actually better that all accounts are under 1 email address.

However the linking you describe is only for the free shopping app, not for any 3rd party app. I recommend you do not use the free app as there are too many issues that have not been resolved in years. (Because its free)

Use something like: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

Thanks for the inputs. I did manage to link to my other account via the free shopping App, but I seem to be stuck as it does not recognize by Terms and Refunds pages.

It seems rather extreme to have to go for a paid App if there’s a free integration. Can you provide an example of something that is not working in the free app vs. paid integrations?

Make sure you created the terms and conditions and refunds page in Shopify > settings > policies. Only these pages are recognized.

I’m sure you are aware of the term: You get what you pay for. The free app, has no functionality, and has issues such as not syncing product all the time, tax mismatch issues, incorrect shipping durations. If you want to know more, just search on Shopify, you will find plenty of complaints.

While 3rd party apps are not perfect, you are paying for support and the business model is different. Meaning they will fix issues as it is their business.

Shopify’s free app is not their main business and so it’s kind of sidelined.

It’s a great app if you are not very serious about advertising, and just want to play around. But if you want to have a serious setup, where you can improve your data feed, and have functions such as submitting all attributes, use a 3rd party.

Hey Emmanuel! I am having an issue with Shopfiy randomly saying “not published to Google” for an invalid GTIN. We have previously used these items on Google just fine and the error is only recent. Would you be able to offer any guidance? Is there anyway to contact you directly for help?

Double check the barcode, so that it matches the product barcode on the packaging.

Make sure that the brand value is correct.

Also check Google Merchant center > products > diagnostics for more info.

How did you fix this?? Google is not allowing me to change my Google account email (private@gmail), and I cannot change my Shopify email (business@gmail) as that is my Shopify admin/ account/ billing/ client address. So I cannot connect Google Analytics to my Shopify account…

In shopify, disconnect the connection, then reconnect and use the correct email.

If that fails, contact Google here: https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app
