How to merge two domains while retaining all content?

Hi,

Problem Statement

I have 2 domains:

Now, I have decided to merge the entire a.com website with t.in. Though I have manually created the products of a.com on t.in, I want to now merge the entire a.com website with t.in: products, collections, blogs and pages.

Questions

  • Where to do domain transfers? At Shopify level or at the domain provider’s level?
  • Do all my a.com URLs be replaced by t.in URLs by default, after redirection? Can I change the redirections flow manually afterwards? Also, where will I have to do domain merging/redirection? Shopify or at domain provider’s end?
  • Any other thing that I should keep in mind during or after the domain transfer?

Please reply as I have to do the same before the end of June 2023.

The domain transfers at domain/dns level at your provider, not Shopify.

Yes your .com URLs will actually be gone and replaced by .in.

You can change URLs manually afterwards. Redirection can be done in shopify but also at the provider level. Like you can redirect the .com domain to the .it domain.
