How to merge two products (each with its own set of variants) so I don't lose the sales history?

Topic summary

A merchant wants to consolidate two separate hoodie product listings—each with different color variants—into a single product page while preserving individual sales history and analytics for both.

Proposed Solutions:

  • Multiple users suggested the Shopify Bundle app (free) to combine products
  • The BOGOS app was recommended as an alternative with additional promotional features

Both solutions allow customers to select variants from multiple products published as one listing, with bundle widgets displayable on product pages.

Issue with Suggested Approach:
The original poster tested the bundle solution but found it unsatisfactory. The bundle page appears “messy” and defaults to purchasing two items rather than presenting variants of a single product. They specifically want to merge inventory details as additional variants, not create a bundle.

Current Status:
The discussion remains unresolved. A follow-up commenter asked if a solution was ever found, indicating this is a common need without a clear answer. The core challenge—merging products as variants while maintaining historical sales data—appears unsolved by the suggested apps.

Hi

I am looking to merge products, in this case, some hoodies.

I had some original colours in one product listing and some new colour variants in another. Can I merge these two product listings so I don’t lose their stats?
I can just add the details in manually but I then lose any sales history cohesion.

Simply. I want to merge product A with product B and keep their history with them. Can this be done?

Hello @OrionLee

Did you try with the Shopify bundle app to merge the two products?

I hope this helps you to achieve what you want.

Hi @OrionLee

You can try these 2 options:

  • Shopify bundle app (free) → select multi products and publish them as one products → customers can select variants of each product

  • BOGOS app → you get 3 benefits while merging product A with product B and keeping their history with them
  1. Exact Shopify Bundle app’s feature above

  2. bundle widget under the product page (same effect)

  1. Many other promotions types from Gifts, Discounts, Bundles, and Upsells

Sadly bundles doesn’t do what I want it to do. The bundle page looks messy, when all I want to do is add one item’s inventory details to another as another variant. As you can see, one set had two colour options, the new set wants to be added to the old set, but instead the bundle makes it look bad, and I don’t want people to default buy two of the item.

Hey OP, did you ever find a solution to this?

Hello @OrionLee,

You can check the Push Bundle- Build a Box app. You can make bundles with multiple products and show the products and variants on a single product page. Your customers can select the quantities from different variants of the products.

Try working through SKU’s not products.
