Hi all,
This seems way more complicated than necessary so I’m hoping someone has some solutions.
We are using a vintage theme from Maestro (so not shopify store), called Prestige. We would like to migrate to a shopify 2.0 store.
There is a Prestige updated theme for 2.0.
However, as you all know, we can’t simply “update the theme.” After reading through the documentation, it seems like this requires more extensive knowledge of html and json coding and liquid files.
I’m wondering if anyone has a more simple solution or guidance? It seems like I must be missing something for it to be this difficult. We’ve reached out to shopify experts and have found that many of the experts do not seem familiar with transitioning a shop to 2.0.
One thought is whether I just customize the updated Prestige theme (basically re-create our site) and then Publish it. Will our shop then automatically just be 2.0?
Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!
Hi @cascadeironco ,
What I understand here is you just wanted to upgrade the Prestige the to Prestige 2.0.
I would recommend you to simply duplicate your existing live theme twice one for backup and other to Upgrade it to Prestige 2.0.
After you upgrade to 2.0 review your website and if everything goes well publish that theme.
Feel free to connect if you have any questions.

Hi Cascadeironco,
We’re in the same boat and have been kicking this problem down the road (ie avoiding it) for 18 months now. I talked to Maestroo and if I recall correctly, they said the migration difficulty would basically depend on how customized your site is from their stock theme.
I’m wondering if you guys tried to flip the switch, and if so, what your experience was like. We have a pretty heavily customized site here…
Thanks for sharing any experiences you might have had.
I have the same issue…
I did it once by myself it took my a whole weekend. It would be better if Maestro learned in an earlier state of all the customized theme. So that you don’t need to customize it that much, especially for your SEO.
However, I am wondering if you find a solution for this issue.
