I offer free shipping to my customers but I would also like to offer expedited shipping that they pay for
Hi @lunkertrail !
You can absolutely offer free shipping as well as expedited shipping through a carrier.
First off, I would recommend setting up your calculated rate with the carrier as your base rate within the shipping zone of your choice. That way, it will be the default for all purchases and each customer will have the option to pick expedited shipping and add the cost to their order. You can follow our guide for setting that up here.
Once that is done, you can set up a flat shipping rate for “free shipping” that will appear depending on conditions you set. The free shipping rate can be set in a multitude of ways depending on your preference:
- Free shipping based on a certain weight of an order
- Free shipping based on a certain value of an order
- Free shipping for a specific group of products or collections
- Free shipping for a specific group of customers
You can also create a discount code for free shipping if you wish to have this be exclusive. In this instance, the calculated rates will appear for the customer by default and they would enter the discount code should it relate to the conditions you set for the code. This will allow them to have expedited shipping but at no cost.
Ultimately, you have many options moving forward. If you wish to give me more context on your business plan, I would be happy to recommend the best route to move forward with.
Looking forward to your reply.
Cheers!
