How To Optimize Largest contentful paint image element to load faster?

I’ve been using pagespeed insights to determine why my website traffic has gone down since Google’s last update, and I am currently trying to fix a few things.

One of them is my Largest Contentful Paint element, which is taking 5,160ms and causing my mobile core web vitals to fail.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I’m using Debut Theme.

You are loading a big image (Desktop image) for mobile as well. You don’t need those extra pixels where the mobile screen size will be around 425px to 600px max. You can likely add a different image for mobile instead of using the same desktop one.
And just to note, you are most likely better than 60-70% of the shopify websites out there. Personally, I think you should worry about something else than trying to increase the site speed of this which is already very good.

Hi @Mavi90

This is Richard from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App

Personally, your store speed is better than a lot of other Shopify stores which is 72 performance on mobile.

To solve the thing that you concerned, you can implement srcset for the image you are using for the slideshow, then it can be solved.

Currently it is loading the bigger size than the mobile dimension which caused it

Hope this can help you solve the issue

Best regards,

Hi Richard,

I appreciate your reply.

Sorry, how do I implement srcset for the image?

Do you think fixing this will help my site’s organic traffic?

Thanks

Hi @Mavi90 ,

As others have already mentioned, you have a great pagespeed score already. Fixing this issue is unlikely to give you much SEO improvement.

As you’ve mentioned that you are looking for more organic traffic, you should be focussing on other SEO issues. For example, the meta description on your Irene Organics Belly Oil is “Irene Organics Belly Oil”. The meta description is what Google may show in the search results, and it should be something that will entice people to click your website. This description needs some work.

Your page titles and image alt tags also need some work.

If you are not comfortable making these changes yourself, there are apps available to do the work for you. Have a look at the Shopify App Store.

Hi @Mavi90 applying srcset to the image is a bit technical topic. If you are unsure about that I suggest you can hire a developer to do that.

From my perspective. This is an opportunity from PSI to return for you, if you are able to fix it, lets solve it right away.

But if not i don’t think its affected too much to the traffic
