I recently had a billing situation with Ionos regarding my domain. However, that had been resolved. They advised me that I needed some kind of configuration info from Shopify to reconnect my domain. Unfortunately, this has costed me time and money. Secondly, I have another request regarding the use of my previous business name still showing up on the site in addition to the new name I established about 2-3 years ago.
Thanks for posting to the community forums! I hope your day is going well. In regards to your domain, the process is generally straight forward. Are you looking to transfer the domain to Shopify for hosting? Or, are you simply looking to point the domain to your Shopify account?
If you are looking to point your domain to Shopify, and maintain hosting at your third party provider, you can connect automatically if you are using Google Domains, GoDaddy, or 1&1 IONOS. If you are using a different provider, you will need to connect the domain manually.
To manually connect, you need to have the following information:
your login information for your third-party domain provider account
Enter your domain, such as johns-apparel.info, and then click Next.
To confirm that your domain is connected to your Shopify store, click Verify connection.
Please note, at times it can take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified. After it’s verified, your domain is listed in the THIRD-PARTY DOMAINS section of the Domains page with the status Connected.
In regards to your old business name, and new business name showing up on your site, can you elaborate on where you are seeing this? If you are seeing it in Google, it could be your sitemap, meta-data, or store info that is logged incorrectly. However if it’s showing up on your customer facing site, then that could be a theme issue.
In your reply I would love it if you could additionally share your store’s domain. This way I can take a look and provide additional feedback you might find useful!
