How to reduce frequency of denied payments on high ticket purchases

Hi! Our Shopify Plus store has high ticket items, high average order value, and often billing and shipping addresses are different. Our customers credit cards are frequently denied which causes major frustration because our customers have to reach out to their bank.

Is there anything our store can implement to reduce the frequency of denied payments? Has anyone had success in speaking with credit card companies? We understand it is a matter of general security with processing credit cards and mitigating chargebacks/fraud from customers, but our customers would benefit from an easier checkout experience.
