I’d recommend reviewing this guide on building sales channel apps. One of the requirements of a sales channel is that it must be a public app rather than the private type you’ve mentioned. For apps created from a merchant’s Admin, this help doc highlights the steps to retrieve the API credentials. Otherwise, you’ll need to authentication the app using OAuth as noted in this table.
