How to replace the default Instagram logo in Studio v13.0.0 theme?

Topic summary

A user seeks to customize the Instagram icon in Shopify’s Studio v13.0.0 theme footer with two specific goals:

Current Progress:

  • Custom icon image uploaded to Assets
  • Icon added to Brand Information section and made visible in footer
  • Attempted code insertion in footer.liquid file

Issues Encountered:

  • Code snippet produces errors and cannot be saved
  • Default icon remains clickable while new custom icon is not
  • Both icons currently display simultaneously

Desired Outcome:

  1. Replace the default black-and-white Instagram icon with the custom image
  2. Make the new icon clickable
  3. Add “Follow me on Instagram” heading text

The post includes a screenshot showing the current footer state (text appears corrupted in the conversation). The user needs guidance on proper code implementation to achieve a functional, clickable custom Instagram icon in the Brand Information section.

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to replace the default black-and-white icon with another one and add a heading like “Follow me on Instagram” in the in Studio v13.0.0 theme? Here is what I’ve done so far:

*I have the icon image I want and have added it to Assets

*I tried adding this to footer.liquid (updated with my instagram info, of course) per one suggestion but it produces errors and I can’t save:

*I have also added it into the Brand Information section and made that visible in my footer

The problem is that the default icon is clickable but the new icon is not and I don’t want both of them. How can I either 1) replace the default icon with the new one or 2) make the new icon displayed in the Brand Information section clickable?
