After editing the DNS settings it still shows the domain is parked when searched . How to fix this issue? Got the domain from porkbun
Hi, did you make sure to configure the domain with and without www.?
Also keep in mind that depending on your provider changing the DNS settings take some time until they are activated.
Hi yes i followed the instructions as per the shopify third party domain connection .
Thanks for reaching out here and welcome to the Shopify Community!
I understand you are experiencing some issues with trying to connect your domain to your Shopify store. I’d be happy to help troubleshoot this here with you.
Just to confirm, when you say ‘parked’ domain - are you referring to your domain not being connected to anything, and either showing an error when trying to access it, or maybe a basic parked domain holding page from Porkbun?
From reading your followup reply, it looks like you followed along with this specific guide here for connecting a third party domain to Shopify, is that correct? After carrying out the steps in that guide, you should see the domain listed in the Settings > Domains section of your Shopify admin, and also see that the A Record & CNAME DNS settings (on the Porkbun website where you manage the domain) have been changed to reflect the Shopify settings outlined in the guide - can you confirm that is the case?
As @DominicMruk has mentioned, DNS changes on a domain can take time to fully propagate across the internet - usually anywhere up to 48 hours. How long has it been since you connected the domain?
Feel free to share the domain URL here and I can take a look from my side to try and identify any possible DNS issues etc. Also, sharing a screenshot of the domain in the Settings > Domains section of your admin, and the DNS settings of the domain itself would be useful to see what is happening. I cannot access your account via the Shopify Community, so we can only use the information you provide here in your replies in order to troubleshoot.
Looking forward to hearing back!
Hi according to shopify my domain has been successfully connected but when i search the url the result says it’s still park in porkbun where i bought it from my url is,
Thank you for taking your time to help.
Thanks for getting back with this information.
If it says successfully connected in your admin then that is a good sign.
I tried accessing the URL you provided of ikurumba.com and from what I can tell it seems to be working OK. Your store loads up fine and I am not noticing any issues on my side. You can see here that the A Record is set correctly, However, there are some regions coming up as having not propagated yet, so it may take some more time if you have only made those DNS changes recently.
I am not seeing any CNAME record on this domain, which you can see here. If you follow this guide here about connecting a third party domain that I previously mentioned, it states that you should add a www CNAME record of shops.myshopify.com to the domain - I would recommend doing this if you haven’t already.
For the moment however, it does appear that your domain is working OK and I can browse your store without issue. I can see you have put a lot of work into setting your store up, and you have included some great pages & policies etc. I did notice some small spelling mistakes with the ‘money back guarantee’ section. I believe this should be: 'Buyers are protected with ikurumba™ money back guarantee if an item is not delivered within 40 days after an order is placed’.
I also noticed you only have a single social media link in your footer - Instagram. That is great, however have you thought about setting up other social pages such as Twitter and Facebook, and linking them also? We have a handy blog post here that outlines various social media marketing and engagement tips, I would recommend checking it out!
Hi
Thank you for your feedback about the store means alot to me. ![]()
Yes I have put the cname record also as you have mentioned. The problem is when searched in google the search result comes as domain is still parked, but when you click that link it takes to my website. So need to find a way to fix that google search result.
And again Thank you for your feedback about the store . Really appreciate it .
You are very welcome - we’re always happy to help.
We aren’t able to directly control how Google presents your domain in search results, however from a Shopify perspective it sounds like you have done everything required to set up this domain.
It would be a good idea to submit your sitemap to the Google Search Console, in order to help Google find and index the various pages on your site. When they index your site, it means that your store’s pages appear in search results etc. It’s possible that this might fix that parked issue, but either way it’s a good idea regardless!
If you are still seeing things related to the domain being ‘parked’ when you search for it, then it might be a good idea to contact the Porkbun support team and ask them if they had suggestions for you, as they are the domain hosts. I had a look at their website here, and it looks like there’s a ‘Contact Us’ option in the bottom footer which lets you send them a message.
