hey everyone! Had an interesting shopify question I can’t seem to find any documentation on.A client is using shopify to run ‘internal’ sales stores.
Meaning many employees from work access the store simultaneously. They are running into issues where Shopify is blocking/throttling requests with nondescript error messages (this is hundreds of users, not thousands).
So our hypothesis is that this is some ‘anti botting’ policy of shopify that’s getting triggered by too many requests from the same network.
Any ideas on if whitelisting is possible, or how to approach this?
Hi @ethandrower
All-in-one platform @Growave is here.
As you noticed, Shopify blocks/throttles such requests with nondescript error messages. It happens due to security issues since Shopify identifies it as an error. For a long-term solution, we would suggest creating your own CRM by using Shopify’s API, which is pretty robust and elastic.
Hopefully, I managed to help you. If so, please let me know by liking this post or marking it as a solution.
Thanks for the reply. We are really looking to leverage Shopify as an ecommerce platform, so ‘creating our own’ isn’t yet an option. I’m hoping to find workarounds to these kind of IP based blocking that don’t seem to be configurable in the store dashboard.
