I am from Canada and I want to sell my products in Canada and USA but I can’t sell my products in some states.
Do you have a simple way to restrict selling to specified states ?

You can create a shipping zone for US and uncheck to states that you don’t want in your store admin > Settings > Shipping and delivery

I understand that you would like to sell products both in Canada and USA, but only to specific states, and you are wondering if there’s a way to restrict certain states. I would be happy to assist!
As @Dan-From-Ryviu has kindly mentioned, the easiest and most straightforward way to achieve this is to simply create shipping zones for both Canada and USA, and manually deselect the states that you have restrictions on. This will essentially prevent anyone with an address in a restricted state from being able to place an order on your store, as when they reach the checkout they will see a ‘no shipping available’ error message.
It would be a good idea to also communicate your shipping restrictions to your customers, so that customers in restricted states won’t be disappointed when they reach checkout. Perhaps you could consider including this information in your shipping policy, or to make it very obvious you could mention it on a dedicated ‘shipping restrictions’ page and link that in your main menu, or even have a banner message announcement bar at the top of your storefront.
Besides using the built-in shipping zones feature in Shopify, there are a few other ways you could restrict selling to specific states in Canada and the USA. You could manually review each order that comes in and if the customer’s shipping address is restricted, you could cancel the order and contact them to explain the restriction. There are also third-party geolocation apps from the Shopify App Store here that could detect the customer’s location, and help you automatically restrict access to your store or display a message about restricted states.

What about if you are from Canada and sell multiple brands. Most of the brands can be sold to the United States but some are restricted. Can you restrict on a brand or SKU level to the United States.

You can include or exclude products to certain countries or regions using Shipping profiles. However, while you can select the products for each of the shipping profiles, which will restrict the products that aren’t added to the shipping profile, there isn’t a way to restrict them based on brands or SKUs.
