How to set a product variant as default for customer selection?

Hi,

I am looking to mimic a system similar to what is pictured here below. I want to make it so a customer has to choose a variant in order to add to basket.

Hi,

you can make variant selector as required in code so that customer cannot add button without selecting variant

We can make the variant preselected by customizing the code
