How to set up a product that is a reservation?

My company sells trailers and these trailers are built to order that require a deposit. How do I set up a product that reflects “Trailer Reservation”

It’s not a digital product but it’s not a product we would require shipping for since it’s just the deposit they would be paying for via this product. How do I set that up?

You can try to follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:

  • Go to Shopify admin panel → Products → Add Products
  • Enter the name of the product as “Trailer Reservation” and set the price of the deposit.
  • In Shipping, select “This is a physical product” and uncheck the option “This product requires shipping”.
  • In the Variants section, add any relevant options for the trailer such as size or color, if applicable.
  • Save and test.

This is helpful thank you. The problem is I don’t have a “This product requires shipping” option to uncheck.

Is this a settings issue or something along those lines?

Did you ever end up solving this? I’m so curious why you can’t see that box. I can’t reproduce is.

Also I noticed you mentioned deposits, if you want to try offering a deposit of the full price of the product and having it all in one order with a stored credit card, an app like Downpay can help with that. That way you can just charge the remainder from the card that it puts on file for the order.
