How to set up custom shipping rates based on product categories?

Hi,

We are running a multivendor marketplace. We need to create custom shipping charges on the basis of categories on our website as we have varied categories ranging from small products to volumetric products. We cannot enter weight for each product as individual sellers enter their products on their own. The only way is to either charge shipping as per categories or through percentage. We do not have a fixed shipping carrier, but have 3-4 different carriers. Please suggest what can

You could create a Shipping profile per categories, then you’d have to update the list of products in those shipping profiles based on their category or tag (which can be done with a little automation).
