How to set up Google Sales Channel for a new business on Shopify?

Can anyone help me with this…

I am setting up the Sales Channels on my Shopify store. Google is recommended so I would like to add this.

My question is, should I create a totally new gmail account specifically for my new business? When I click to connect, it automatically brings up my personal gmail account…so should I create a new one for business or does it not matter?

The other thing is, I may already have a merchant centre for my existing business but I am not totally sure as never really did anything with Google but I do need to separate these businesses from each other.

Just don’t want to make major mistakes before I have even started!

  2. To test if you have an existing account, log in to Google Merchant Center : https://www.google.com/retail/solutions/merchant-center/

  3. Use the account you already have, you can change the admin email to your business email at any time: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/1637190?hl=en

Thank you for this. So I clicked on the Merchant Centre link and ran through the steps. It asked if I use Shopify & Paypal so I ticked both and it wants to connect through my Paypal account … is this for paying for google ads etc…

When I clicked complete it, it is using my personal gmail account so I guess I must have already set one up using my personal account rather than a business account.

So this is all ok is it? It will still pull through details about my new business I am setting up rather than my personal admin?

Just find it a bit confusing…

PayPal is both for verifying you are a real business.

And for receiving payments when you use Buy On Google.

The email address used to log in makes no difference. As mentioned, if you want to change email simply add your new email address to Google Merchant Center, once verified as admin, you can remove your personal email.

As @EmmanuelFlossie mentioned, it’s best to use one account and I would advise have a seperate business and personal account for this for a few reasons. One being to keep things more organised and the other is becuase it would be more professional too. The last one is for setting up Google ads should you ever go that route.
