How to set up payment methods as non-US residents?

Hi,

Setting up our first store - now while trying to setup shopify payments facing the following usercase issue:

We are a registered LLC in USA with USA bank account, but as for owners we are not residents of USA - rather of India - as a result we do not have access to SSN. While trying to setup the form for activating payments we are getting stuck due to the same. Can anyone guide what can done on this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for getting in touch. To use a US Shopify Payments account, merchants must be able to provide a valid SSN for verification purposes, along with a US address. I am afraid if you or nobody else involved with the business is able to do so then you will not be able to activate and use a US Shopify Payments account.

While Shopify Payments is not currently available in India, there are a number of other payment gateways merchants in India can use to process transactions.

Quick follow up question - I have a minority business partner of the LLC holding a 1% valuation residing in USA - will that person’s SSN work?

You are free to use this person’s information if they are involved in the business, and they will be listed as the point of contact for the Shopify Payments account. All documentation and verification submitted will be reviewed by our Shopify Payments team and follow-up documentation may be required.
